A boat picked him up. Orders given from the launch to have him brought alongside. Our launch was stopped at first but on hearing "never mind" from the green launch we went ahead. I saw the boat go alongside the green launch. I saw the boat people fetch the man up the side. I saw the man evidently trying to avoid joining the launch. I saw a man pull the man on board. I do not know whether the man who jumped overboard was on board the white launch.

Jam retired Commander, W. and Assistant Harbour Master in this Colony. At the beginning of this month, I took Pang Bat, master of the Hain "steam launch", in a launch. I directed him to steer me to the spot where the BAKA jumped overboard from his launch. He steered the launch, and stopped her 100 feet from Jardine's buoy which is off Butterfield & Swire's "Wankow" wharf. The spot is about eight or nine hundred feet from the Victoria Bay and is in the waters of the Colony. Pang Pit stated that that spot was where the man jumped overboard. He said the man was picked up at a spot about 100 yards from ... Bury...
